Smithsonian curator Valerie Neal will be keynote speaker at Honors Convocation

Dr. Valerie Neal will discuss "The American Scholar in Our Time"

Dr. Valerie Neal, a curator at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. will be the featured speaker at this week’s Honors Convocation, 11 a.m. Thursday, April 18 in Ed Landreth Auditorium.

Her topic will be “The American Scholar in Our Time.” Dr. Neal, a 1971 TCU graduate in the Honors Program, joined the Museum as a curator in 1989 and is responsible for artifact collections from the Space Shuttle era and International Space Station, most prominently the orbiter Discovery.

Also on the Convocation program will be music by TCU Honors students Erik Danielson and Lydia Michel, as well as the TCU French Horn Ensemble.

Honors Week celebrates student research and creativity, highlighting daily presentations by students in the John V. Roach Honors College, AddRan College of Liberal Arts, College of Communication, College of Education, College of Fine Arts, College of Science & Engineering, Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences and M.J. Neeley School of Business.
