Suzi Adams has been at TCU since 1975.

After serving TCU for almost four decades, Susan (Suzi) Batchelor Adams has announced her intention to retire as Associate Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and Dean of Campus Life in late August.

Hired in 1975 as coordinator of Greek Affairs, she was one of the first female fraternity advisors in the country. A year later, Suzi was promoted to Director of Student Activities where she originated and supervised many of the Student Affairs programs that are part of the campus culture today.

She was later promoted to Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Dean of Campus Life and has led parts of the Student Affairs division in various roles for the past two decades. She also served as TCU’s Sexual Harassment Compliance Officer appointed by Chancellors William Tucker, Mick Ferrari, and Victor Boschini.

“Suzi has been a leader on our campus and the national stage for many years. She is the consummate student affairs professional, building relationships with students, faculty and staff to create better environments for student learning,” says Kathy Cavins-Tull, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs. “Her presence will be missed in our daily work at TCU, but she leaves a legacy in those she has trained and mentored in this profession. We wish her much happiness in the next chapter of her life. “

Suzi has been honored by several TCU Student Affairs Divisional Awards, including the Thomas Richardson Award for Excellence and the Donald Mills Award for Exceptional Dedication to the University, and the Involvement in the Profession Award. Students, fraternity and sorority organizations, alumni and friends raised funds for an endowed TCU scholarship given annually to two student leaders named The Susan B. Adams Leadership Scholarship which was announced during the celebration of TCU’s 50th anniversary of the Greek System on campus in 2005, and The Chancellor’s Staff Award in 2009.

Her national professional involvement includes serving on the National Association of Student Affairs Professionals (NASPA) Board of Directors, the Southern NASPA Regional Board of Directors, Chair of the Southern Regional Conference, and Chair of the 1997 NASPA-ACPA National Joint Association Conference, director of the NASPA Regional New Professional Institute, and president of NASPA Foundation Board of Directors. She has been honored nationally with the prestigious “Pillar of the Profession Award”.

Suzi received her B.S. in Education from Ohio University and an M.S.Ed. degree from TCU.
