For the 20th year, TCU this week hosts a group of youngsters from Fort Worth ISD’s Vital Link program. The students, who will be 7th graders at McLean Middle School in the fall, are placed in various work settings under the supervision of campus staff.

The internship program is designed to demonstrate the connection between what is learned in the classroom and what is needed for success in the workplace.

This year’s placements will put a student with Hollis Dyer (Physical Plant), Sergio Salinas (Sodexho), Randy Cobb (Safety) and Howard Horne (Printing).
According to Susan Oakley (Human Resources) who coordinates the program with FWISD, in past years TCU has placed students in the ID Card Center, Campus Recreation, academic offices, the glassblowing shop and many others.

On Friday, plans are to have the group tour the Rec Center and try out the climbing wall before the closing luncheon. TCU is just one of a number of local businesses and colleges who participate in the Vital Links program each summer.
