They came in from the mid-afternoon heat last week to enjoy what has become an annual August event for the hardworking Facility Services and Physical Plant staff. It was the 10th annual ice cream party for the hundreds of workers who help make TCU hum all summer long by preparing for the approximately 90,000 visitors who come to campus for high school graduations, camps and conferences.

Hostesses are Flo Hill and Kristin Kirkpatrick (Conference Services), assisted by their interns. This year’s gathering involved 15 half-gallons of Blue Bell vanilla and all the toppings any hot and hungry human could wish for. In addition to throwing the party, they also deliver about 80 dozen cookies to individuals who've helped with conferencing, TCU Police, BLUU staff, Rec Center staff and Housing and Residence Life and Residential Housekeeping.

The tasty treats are Flo and Kristin’s way of saying “thank you” for the hard work this group does for them over the eight weeks of summer. “This is one of my favorite things we do on campus,” Flo notes. "With the demands of the summer on service groups, it really takes the entire University to pull together as a team and make it work. Customer Service is so important these days as we want returning conferences and, hopefully, make a good impression on potential TCU students."
