Get winter closure information on your cell phone via TCU ALERT!

On days when the University is officially closed because of bad weather conditions, all students, faculty and staff members will be excused from reporting, except for those employees providing essential services related to (1) health and safety, (2) the presence of a residential student community and (3) agreements with the public for the use of University facilities.

The decision to close the University will be made by 6:30 a.m. on the day in question and will be sent to campus via TCU ALERT, a campuswide e-mail and posted on the TCU homepage as soon as possible. Closure information will also be recorded on 817-257-4636 and relayed to local media.

Additionally, the campus community should check one of the internal sources (text message from TCU ALERT, Web, recorded phone information, e-mail) first rather than relying only on radio and television announcements.

Although all Metroplex radio stations and television channels 4, 5, 8, 11 and 23 will have received the information, the volume of weather-generated news they must deal with could delay updates of TCU's situation.

Remember, TCU will only use TCU ALERT during major emergencies or weather-related campus closures. If you have not yet added your cellphone number to your personal contact information or have changed cellphone numbers since last year, go to my.tcu.edu to update.
