Heart Healthy luncheon Wednesday opens February wellness challenge

The TCU Wellness Program jumpstart its February Challenge with a Heart Healthy lunch program from noon to 1 p. m. Wednesday in the Kelly Center, Cox C. Nursing professor Diane Hawley will lead the discussion. Lunch will be provided.

 

 

Register to attend through self-service at https://my.tcu.edu. Registration for this event will automatically record 1 incentive point.

 

The February event is the Frog Legs Step Challenge. Dust off your pedometer, lace up your sneakers and team up with colleagues or go it alone for the 2010 Frog Legs Step Challenge.  Have an extra pedometer? Recycle your extra pedometer so that a colleague can participate in the challenge.  Recording & reporting your steps is on the honor system between now and the end date, March 12.  Here's how to make your participation official:

 

1.    Week 1 - Route of the week - submit your number of steps and favorite walking/running route to tcuwellness@tcu.edu by Monday, Feb. 8 and earn a chance to win a $75 gift card.
2.    Week 2 - Multiply your total number of steps walked/run this week by your age and submit to tcuwellness@tcu.edu by Monday, Feb. 15.  A total of 350,000 + steps earns you a chance to win a $100 gift card.
3.    Week 3 – Walk/run70,000+ steps in week 3 and submit your total number of steps to tcuwellness@tcu.edu by Monday, Feb. 22 and earn a chance to win a $150 gift card.
4.    Week 4 - Participate in the Cowtown Marathon (half marathon, 10k or 5k) Saturday, Feb. 27 and earn a chance to win a $200 gift card in the drawing. Bring your marathon number as proof of entering to Human Resources by 5 p.m. Monday, March 1.  If you did not participate in the Cowtown send your steps for the week by Monday, March 1.
5.    Week 5 – Submit total steps walked/ran weeks for week 5 to tcuwellness@tcu.edu by Monday, March 8. If your total so far equals 250,000 + steps earn a chance to win a $250 gift card.
6.    Week 6 - Submit your total steps for week 6 to tcuwellness@tcu.edu by Monday, March 15.  If you completed the entire six weeks and accumulate a total of 300,000 + steps you will be entered into the grand prize drawing for a Nintendo Wii™ Game Console and Wii Fit™ game and board.

You will be awarded an incentive point when you turn in your steps the first week.
