Fred Erisman will discuss girl aviators April 22

Dr. Fred Erisman will discuss his recently published TCU Press book, From Birdwomen to Skygirls, at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 22 in the Library conference room B29.

 

Erisman holds a Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Minnesota and taught at TCU for 35 years. He held the Charles A. Lindbergh Chair of Aerospace History at the National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Institution, during the 2002-2003 year.

 

A specialist in American popular literature and culture, he has published numerous studies of science fiction, technological fiction, detective and suspense fiction, and the western. Before Erisman authored From Birdwomen to Skygirls, he also wrote Boys' Books, Boys' Dreams, and the Mystique of Flight. The "Faculty Speak" series is sponsored by the TCU Library and The Friends of the TCU Library. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
