All TCU students, faculty and staff are eligible to receive a free flu shot this fall during an all-day clinic at the University Recreation Center. The date is Friday, Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Multipurpose Room 1. Please plan to dress for easy access to a shoulder without removal of clothing, as privacy screens will not be available.

This year's vaccine is a 3-in-1 dose of H3N2, Influenza B and H1N1 combined. The event is sponsored by The Health Center and Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences.

Take these general precautions to help avoid getting sick:

  • Cough and sneeze into the crook of your elbow or into a tissue that you throw away immediately.
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use alcohol-based cleaners. Wash before eating and cooking, after toileting, and when you return home.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Avoid close contact with sick people.
  • Invest in a digital thermometer. Fever can indicate the flu.
  • Monitor your health closely. At the first sign of flu-like symptoms, visit your health care professional.
