VIA Town Hall meetings set for today, tomorrow
Published: 9/13/2010

The Vision in Action (VIA) Strategic Plan Update Committee will host Town Hall meetings today, Sept.13, from 12:30-2:30 p.m. and again tomorrow, Sept. 14, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Brown-Lupton University Union ballroom.   TCU’s  Strategic Plan (VIA) was  approved by the trustees in 2005. In December 2009, Chancellor Victor J. Boschini Jr.  charged a University committee to “Review, Refresh, and Revitalize” the existing plan. All colleges/schools/divisions, after discussion with their individual constituents,  submitted draft plans of their preferred futures in the Spring 2010. The common themes from the various plans have been consolidated into a listing of University strategic goals and activities. The Town Hall meetings are designed to both inform the University community of the suggested themes and activities as well as solicit input from the participants.

Provost Nowell Donovan will begin each Town Hall with a 15-minute introduction of the process of “Refreshing” Vision in Action followed by five concurrent interactive sessions lasting approximately 80 minutes. Each session will highlight one of the five cardinal principles from Vision in Action along with the suggested elements of “Revitalization.” Participants will be free to come and go between the venues gaining insight and offering suggestions. The Town Hall will conclude with each of the session moderators reporting the results of their individual discussions.

The five cardinal principles from the 2005 Vision in Action will once again form the foundation of TCU’s revitalized plan.  They are as follows:

•       Recruit and retain students, faculty, and staff who can achieve their full potential at TCU
•       Design a vibrant learning community characterized by distinctive curricular, co-curricular, and residential programs
•       Sustain an environment in which rich personal interaction is enhanced by outstanding facilities and appropriate technology
•       Accelerate TCU’s connections with the greater community: Fort Worth, Texas, the nation, the world
•       Couple wise financial stewardship with a well-planned entrepreneurial approach to academic opportunities
