The University has launched its 2010 United Way Campaign with an announced goal of $118,000.  The effort began Monday, Oct. 18 and continues for three weeks.

This year’s campus United Way Campaign chair is Darron Turner (Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Inclusiveness and Intercultural Services), assisted by Nancy Styles (Marketing & Communication), campus campaign coordinator. Meetings can be scheduled for every area of campus, where faculty and staff will have an opportunity to learn more about United Way, the services provided, and how to make pledges to the 2010 United Way campaign.

Darron says: “Please join me in contributing to United Way.  We are a part of a community in need and that need grows greater each day as our economy struggles to recover.  I wish I could say that this year we need you less, but the reality is we need you more than ever.  Having served on the Board of Directors for a couple of partner agencies has afforded me regular exposure to the dramatic impact made by the hard-working and talented folks who profoundly impact the lives of children and adults in our communities.  Your contribution underwrites these efforts.”

All faculty and staff will receive their packets by mail this year and again it will be possible to make your pledge online.  Watch for an e-mail message from Darron and United Way explaining the process and instructing users how to access the online donation form.  TCU employees have several options for donations.  They may select the payroll deduction method, credit card, cash or check or use the form to request billing from United Way.

Again this year, Tarrant County United Way is focusing on three issues:  Education, Income and Health.  They also have special focuses on Homelessness and the Women’s Endowment Fund.  There are 45 community partner agencies and more than 100 United Way funded programs serving Tarrant County.  For more information, call Nancy at ext. 7808.
