University to be closed Wednesday

On Wednesday, Nov. 24, the University will shut down power to numerous buildings on the west side of campus from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. to allow for scheduled maintenance.  As a result, the University will be closed that day. Each department should ensure adequate staffing remains to cover the regular workday in order to provide essential services related to (1) health and safety, (2) the presence of a residential student community and (3) agreements with the public for the use of University facilities. TCU will reopen after the Thanksgiving holiday, Monday, Nov. 29.

 

The following buildings will be without power:
Bailey Building and Palko Hall
Ballet and Modern Dance
Brown-Lupton Health Center
Ed Landreth Hall and Auditorium
Jarvis Hall
Miller Speech and Hearing
Reed Hall
Scharbauer Hall
Starpoint School
Walsh Center for Performing Arts
 
The following residence halls will be without power:
Britain Residence Hall
Carter Residence Hall
Clark Residence Hall
Colby Residence Hall
Fish Residence Hall
Foster Residence Hall
Herndon Residence Hall
King Residence Hall
Mabee Residence Hall
Milton Daniel Residence Hall
Mullins Residence Hall
Samuelson Residence Hall
Sherley Residence Hall
Tom Brown Pete Wright Commons
Waits Residence Hall
Walker Residence Hall
Wright Residence Hall

 
The following facilities will be powered by generators:
Brown-Lupton University Union (Market Square will be closed as scheduled on Nov. 24)
Sadler Hall

 
Facilities not affected by the power shut down:
Moncrief Hall
University Recreation Center
Facilities located in Worth Hills
Facilities located on the east side of campus
Athletic facilities

The Bailey Building and Palko Hall, Ballet and Modern Dance, Ed Landreth Hall and Reed Hall do not have battery backup for card access. Faculty and staff who need to enter the building can use their current key to access the facility through one door in each of these facilities. The building deputy will send the identified access door to faculty and staff of these facilities.
 
Please make sure to turn off all computers in these buildings at the close of business on Tuesday, Nov. 23.
