The Ballet Bldg. is currently closed for major renovation and will reopen next August. Built in 1920-1921 as the campus gymnasium, the antiquated structure will undergo a massive facelift that will include an elevator tower and new stairs, providing handicap accessibility to all areas. Dance studios and audience seating will be improved and restrooms will be added.

While construction is under way, the  School for Classical & Contemporary Dance is housed in various rooms of the University Recreation Center and the Rickel Building through the spring and summer. The main dance office is located in Ste. 244 of the Rickel. A temporary dance studio has been constructed on the first floor of the GrandMarc, facing Waits Ave., while two other studios and the costume shop are relocated to the Rec Center and Rickel.

All summer events for 2011 have been cancelled. The annual spring dance concert will be held in Ed Landreth Auditorium as usual, while smaller events will take place in alternative venues, such as the atrium of the Neeley School and in Buschman Theatre.
