Journalism professor Tommy Thomason visits Natha Howell Elementary School

Tommy, who has written seven books on teaching writing to young writers, spoke to the school's fourth graders on where writers get their ideas and how they write stories that put pictures into the minds of readers.

Professor Tommy Thomason of the Schieffer School of Journalism and director of the Texas Center for Community Journalism in the Schieffer School addressed an audience of younger-than-usual students last week. He was invited to be the featured speaker at Natha Howell Elementary School’s “Wildcat Writing Camp 2011.”

A group of authors and literacy experts (including the College of Education’s retired professor Luther B. Clegg) were also on hand on to focus attention on the art of writing well.
