Posthumous honor for the late Pat Sloan
Published: 5/2/2011

With faculty and administrative colleagues’ recommendation and TCU Board of Trustees’ approval, Patricia Ann Sloan has been posthumously awarded the title of Emeritus Associate Professor of Art & Art History in the School of Art.  Prof. Sloan passed away Oct. 17, 2010, after a long illness.

Reference to this distinct honor was mistakenly left off the Service Awards program held Thursday, April 28 in the University Union ballroom.

The Emeritus designation is reserved for those whose length and quality of service have been especially noteworthy and who have brought unusual honor upon the University.

Pat Sloan taught Graphic Design at TCU for seven years.  Lewis Glazer, chair of the Graphic Design program, says, “Pat was a dear friend and respected professional associate of mine for 23 years. She was an outstanding designer when I met her, with a brilliant intellect and a quick wit. I have never in my life met a more positive person. Pat also proved to be an exemplary professor in the Graphic Design program. “

He adds, “She was delighted (and relieved) to have received tenure just last year, along with promotion to Associate Professor. No one ever worked harder for this accomplishment, or deserved it more. She had a tremendous and positive impact on the Graphic Design program at TCU.”
