Dept. of Communication Studies hosting Green Chair this week

Dr. Kory Floyd

Dr. Kory Floyd, professor of health and family communication at Arizona State University, will be on campus Sept. 26-29 as the Green Honors Chair for the Dept. of Communication Studies. Floyd will give a lecture titled “Communication and Well-Being” from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, in Moudy 141N. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Floyd will present his award-winning research on the relationship between affectionate communication and mental and physical health. In particular, Floyd will discuss the implications of affectionate communication for stress and the resilience of the immune system.

Dr. Floyd is the associate director of the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication and director of the Communication Sciences Laboratory at ASU. Floyd has more than 15 years' experience in the field of communication and has authored or co-authored 13 books, including the textbooks Communication Matters and Interpersonal Communication. Other works include nearly 75 journal articles and content contributions toward interpersonal, nonverbal, family and health communication textbooks.
