The University is launching its 2011 United Way Campaign with an announced goal of $120,000.  The effort began last Monday and continues for three weeks.

This year’s campus United Way Campaign chair is Homer Erekson (John V. Roach Dean of the Neeley School of Business), assisted by Nancy Styles (Marketing & Communication), campus campaign coordinator. Meetings can be scheduled for every area of campus, where faculty and staff will have an opportunity to learn more about United Way, the services provided, and how to make pledges to the 2011 United Way campaign.

“There are so many individuals and families in our community who are being adversely affected by our current economic struggles, and who face ongoing challenges of inadequate education, poor health, and aging,” notes Homer. “Your support will make a difference in the life of a child, for an aging adult longing for independence, or to a family struggling to make ends meet. And please remember that you have the opportunity to make a directed donation to a specific United Way partner agency (or agencies) of your choice.”

All faculty and staff are receiving their packets by mail this year and again it will be possible to make your pledge online. You also have received an e-mail message from Homer Erekson and United Way explaining the process and instructing users how to access the online donation form.  TCU employees have several options for donations.  They may select the payroll deduction method, credit card, cash or check or use the form to request billing from United Way.

Again this year, Tarrant County United Way is focusing on three issues:  Education, Income and Health.  They also have special focuses on Homelessness and the Women’s Endowment Fund.  There are 45 community partner agencies and more than 100 United Way funded programs serving Tarrant County.  For more information, call Nancy at ext. 7808.
