Trombone Summit this weekend includes two free concerts

The TCU School of Music will host the third annual Fort Worth Trombone Summit April 20-21, featuring outstanding artists, masterclasses and free concerts. David Begnoche of the SOM faculty is coordinating the event.

 

Jazz trombone legend David Steinmeyer, will be the featured soloist with the TCU Jazz Ensemble at 7 p.m. Friday in PepsiCo Recital Hall. Joe Eckert, director of jazz studies at TCU, is conducting the program.  Steinmeyer is former lead trombonist for the “Airmen of Note,” based in Washington, DC, where Eckert was also a performing member. Admission is free.

 

All day Saturday, there will be concerts and classes conducted by leading talents Steinmeyer, Niels-Ole Bo Johansen from Denmark, and Duncanville native Daniel Brady, bass trombone with the U.S. "President's Own" Marine Band.

 

The free 7 p.m. concert event Saturday in PepsiCo Recital Hall will feature the TCU Trombone Choir performing with the guest artists and will conclude with a 50-piece trombone choir.
