Safely get rid of unused/expired meds around your house this weekend

On Saturday, April 28, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., cities across the nation will participate in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s “Take Back” events to provide a way to safely dispose of unused and expired medicines.  The local initiative, sponsored by a number of Fort Worth agencies, is joining in to prevent drug overdose and poisoning as well as pollution of the water supply/environment.

 

Local drop-off stations will be at Ridgmar Mall, the Health, Safety and Crime Prevention Fair at 7440 McCart Ave., Saginaw Fire Station #1 and the Keller Police Department.

 

Among the items which will be accepted: prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, vitamins/minerals and medication samples.

 

Items not accepted are oxygen tanks, needles and other sharps, inhalers, thermometers, nebulizers and IV bags

 

Participants are asked to keep all pharmaceuticals in their original containers, mark through personal information, stay in their vehicles and give medications to staff.
