Founders Award - Paul E. Jr. and Judith E. Andrews
The recipient, who may or may not be an alumnus or alumna at TCU, is cited for a special reason or a single act or deed in the interest of the University or the Alumni Association.
TCU parents Paul and Judy Andrews are known as remarkable citizens who have earned a reputation for underwriting transformations. That is certainly the case at TCU, where they are benefactors of the Andrews Institute of Mathematics & Science Education, the John V. Roach Honors College and the Mary Couts Burnett Library. They also are key supporters of the Paul and Judy Andrews Women’s Hospital at Baylor All Saints Medical Center. Mr. Andrews is the founder of TTI Inc., and Mrs. Andrews is a community leader.
Valuable Alumni Award - Ronald C. and Paula Rhodes Parker ’76, ’77
The recipient of this award is an alumnus and/or alumna who has rendered outstanding and continuing service to the University and/or the Alumni Association.
Mr. and Mrs. Parker have proven their loyalty to TCU time and time again. They are co-chairs of the $100 million Campaign Scholarship Initiative and long have had particular enthusiasm for Horned Frogs athletics, Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences and the Neeley School of Business. Mr. Parker is the retired Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Global Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer for PepsiCo. He is a member of the TCU Board of Trustees and serves on the Executive Committee of The Campaign for TCU. Mrs. Parker has served as president of the board of directors of Plano Children’s Medical Clinic.
Royal Purple Award - J. Roger King ’63
Established in 1967, this award has been designated for an individual’s extraordinary service and support of Texas Christian University and the greater community.
Mr. King serves on the Executive Committee of The Campaign for TCU and is the former chair of the Development Committee of the TCU Board of Trustees. He has assumed many leadership roles at the University, including a decade of service on the Neeley School of Business International Board of Visitors. He is the former senior vice president for human resources for PepsiCo, Inc. Mr. King was recognized by the TCU Alumni Association as Distinguished Alumnus in 1989, and he is the proud parent of three Horned Frog graduates. He and his wife, Roberta, live in Fort Worth.
Honorary Alumnus Award - Matthew K. Rose (to be conferred in Fall 2012)
First presented in 1954, this award has been given to a person who is not an alumnus or alumna of TCU but, through his or her loyalty, service and support of TCU, has earned this recognition and honor.
Matt Rose became a TCU Trustee in 2002 and now serves on the Executive and Fiscal Affairs committees. Soon after joining the Board, he and his wife, Lisa, entrusted TCU to educate their daughter, a 2009 graduate, and son, a current student. Then Mr. Rose took on the responsibility of chairing of The Campaign for TCU, using the expertise he has honed as chairman, president and CEO of BNSF Railway Company. Under his leadership, the campaign has been a remarkable success, raising more than $415 million — some $165 million over the original goal.
Outstanding Young Professional Award - Justin L. Sanders ’04
This award recognizes an alumnus or alumna, 35 years of age or younger, who has demonstrated outstanding professional achievement or endeavors, bringing credit to himself/herself and, in turn, bringing credit to TCU.
Red Sanders started his first successful entertainment company at the age of 14. At TCU he honed his skills, graduating in Radio, Television and Film and studying in the Neeley Entrepreneurship Program. He has combined his entrepreneurial spirit, media expertise, and love of visual storytelling to create Red Productions, a leading media company. The firm produces TCU’s television spot for Horned Frog football games and created video for the kickoff of The Campaign for TCU.
Distinguished Student Award - David Neal ’12
Presented to a junior or senior student who has distinguished himself or herself as an undergraduate at TCU both in academics and in service to the University.
David Neal will graduate in May with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Pre-Med with a 3.9 grade point average. He represents students on the College of Science & Engineering Advisory Board and has been involved in Honors Departmental Research in biology. David has served as the president of Beta Upsilon Chi fraternity (BYX) and is a University Ambassador for the TCU Admission Office. He is a member of Phi Beta Delta International Honor Society and the Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Med Honors Society.
