Leon Fleisher will perform with his wife Katherine at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in PepsiCo Recital Hall.

The 2012 PianoTexas International Academy & Festival is under way on campus, featuring performances by world-recognized pianists along with concerts by the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra under the baton of FWSO conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya and the legendary Leon Fleisher.

This marks the 31st anniversary of this signature musical event, founded by TCU piano professor Tamás Ungar.  The focus of this year’s Distinguished Artist Series will be the music of Franz Schubert.

Guests artists arriving to perform solo concerts (while also serving as faculty in daily sessions with aspiring young professionals) include: Yeul Eum Son, Malcolm Bilson, Inon Barnatan, Simone Pedroni, Paul Badura-Skoda, Akiko Ebi, Leon Fleisher and Katherine Jacobson Fleisher. For biographical information on any of these artists, go to www.pianotexas.org/guestartists.asp.

It's an event not to be missed by anyone who loves and appreciates fine music, especially since daily recitals by non-professionals are free and all events, including master classes with the guest artists, are open for the public to observe.
