Gordon (Toby)  Emert will present a lecture titled “Straight Talk about the Market for Queer YA Literature” on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 5 p.m. in Scharbauer Hall, rm. 1010.  Emert is associate professor of English Education at Agnes Scott College.

 

He is currently researching the place of LGBTQ-focused literature in school settings.  A published poet and playwright, Emert has led numerous workshops and curricular initiatives linked to Theatre of the Oppressed traditions.  His most recent book is Come Closer: Critical Perspectives on Theatre of the Oppressed, co-edited with Ellie Friedland.
