Kinesiology event today

The Dept. of Kinesiology will host a program for the Texas Regional Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine at 4 p.m. today, Oct. 1 at the Kelly Center. Speaker will be Dr. Claude Bouchard whose topic is “Physical Activity Attenuates the Influence of a Genetic Predisposition to Obesity.” The event is free and open to the public.

 

Dr. Bouchard is the John W. Barton Sr. Endowed Chair in Genetics and Nutrition in the Human Genomics Lab of the Pennington Biomedical Research Center at Louisiana State University.

 

He has published more than 1,000 manuscripts and is known internationally as a scientist in the areas of exercise science and genomics. His work focuses on the genetics of obesity and its comorbidities, as well as on the genetics of adaptation to regular exercise in terms of cardiovascular and diabetes risk factors.
