"Faculty & Friends" Chamber Music opens a new season tonight

The School of Music invites you to "An Evening with Toby," the forst concert in the Faculty & Friends Chamber Music Series for 2012-2013 this evening at 7 p.m. in PepsiCo Recital Hall.

 

Performers include Toby Appel and Misha Galaganov (violas), Jesús Castro-Balbi (cello), Gloria Lin and John Owings (piano). The program includes Elegy( James Friskin), Morpheus (Rebecca Clarke), Sonata, op. 11 no. 4 (Paul Hindemith), Lament, H.117 (Frank Bridge) and Trio, Op. 114 (Johannes Brahms).

 

Toby Appel is currently on the viola and chamber music faculties at the Juilliard School in New York City. He has appeared in recital and concerto performances throughout North and South America, Europe, and the Far East.  He has been a member of such renowned ensembles as TASHI, and the Lenox and Audubon Quartets.  Mr. Appel has been a guest artist with the Vermeer, Manhattan, and Alexander Quartets as well as a frequent guest with the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society and with jazz artists Chick Corea and Gary Burton.
