Flu season is upon us
Published: 1/14/2013

As we enter the flu season, and in light of recent news reports on widespread outbreaks of illness nationwide, please make every effort to remain healthy. The following tips are important to keep in mind as we begin the Spring 2013 semester:

Frequently wash hands
Campus members are encouraged to practice good hygiene including covering your nose and mouth with a tissue or sleeve when you cough or sneeze; washing your hands often with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand sanitizers, and avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth to prevent thespread of germs.

Look for signs and symptoms
Flu and cold symptoms can be similar. Fever and body aches accompanied by a cough often indicate the flu.

Use good judgment

If you experience flu-like symptoms, seek medical attention and stay home from school or work from the onset of symptoms until you are fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.
