Influential trumpet master Randy Brecker, who has been shaping the sound of jazz, R&B and rock for more than four decades, will be the star attraction at this year’s TCU Jazz Festival March 22-23. This is the 36th year for the annual music event which has a rich history of bringing in the greats in the field to perform alongside the University's own talented jazz ensembles.... helping train aspiring young musicians during all day Saturday sessions and blowing audiences out of their seats at nighttime concerts.

Brecker will be featured at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, sharing the stage at Ed Landreth Auditorium with TCU Faculty Jazz Combo and special guest Johnny Case on piano. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Saturday (March 23) is devoted to classes and workshops with top high school and middle school jazz ensembles. The Saturday night event is at 7:30 p.m. in Ed Landreth Auditorium with Randy Brecker, the TCU Jazz Ensembles and award presentations to the top student groups. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Randy Brecker’s trumpet and flugelhorn performances have graced hundreds of albums by a wide range of artists from James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen and Parliament-Funkadelic to Frank Sinatra, Steely Dan, David Sanborn, Jaco Pastorius, Horace Silver and Frank Zappa. As a composer, performer and in-demand Yamaha clinician, Brecker continues to influence and inspire young musicians around the world.
