Sherley Hall's LEED Certification

TCU will hold a ceremony on Friday, Oct. 30 at 11:30 a.m. to celebrate the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification awarded to the University’s newly renovated Sherley Hall.

Sherley Hall is the first building on campus to attain LEED certification. Several project highlights include a 41 percent energy reduction achieved for interior lighting, a 53 percent energy reduction for exterior lighting, a 43 percent energy reduction for heating, a 40 percent energy reduction for cooling, installation of dual flush toilets resulting in a 37 percent water reduction, and the installation of Energy Star appliances.

LEED certification is acknowledged as the standard for determining building sustainability and includes a meticulous third-party commissioning process. Being awarded a LEED certificate proves to clients and the public at large that environmental goals have been achieved and the building is performing as designed.
