Dr. Eph Ehly named interim director of choral activities


Dr. Richard Gipson, director of the TCU School of Music, has announced that Dr. Eph Ehly will arrive next month to serve as interim director of choral activities for the Spring 2010 semester. Dr. Ehly is an esteemed choral educator and artists recognized for his work at the University of Missouri at Kansas City and beyond.

 

He has been called "one of the most sought after choral conductors/clinicians in the United States" by The Choral Journal, the official publication of the American Choral Directors Association.  As conductor author, lecturer and clinician, Ehly has appeared in 48 states, Cananda, Brazil, Japan, Mexico, several European countries, and has presented on more than 100 college and university campuses, more than 80 all-state choirs and more tan 600 festival ensembles.

 

His teaching philosophies and rehearsal techniques ave been shared in his popular book, Hogey's Journey — Living to Learn, Learning to Teach, Teaching to Learn How to Live, and in the "Video Master Classes" released by the Hal Leonard Publishing Company. He has recently served as internim professor choral music at the University of Oklahoma and the University of Kansas. In his years as a choral mentor, more than 90 doctorate and 100 master's degree students graduated under his supervision.
