Faculty award winners presented during Commencement


Six TCU faculty were recognized for their outstanding service to the University during Fall Commencement Dec. 19 in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Winners of the 2009 Deans' Teaching Awards are Ms. Susan Douglas Roberts from the College of Fine Arts, Dr. Tracy Dietz from Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences and Dr. Anne VanBeber from the College of Science and Engineering. Other nominees were Dr. Curt Rode, AddRan College of Liberal Arts; Dr. Carrie Currier, AddRan College of Liberal Arts; Ms. Janice Cobb, M.J. Neeley School of Business; Dr. Paul Witt, College of Communication; and Dr. Cecilia Silva, College of Education.

 

Winners of the 2009 Deans' Creativity or Research Award were Dr. Jeff Ferrell of AddRan College of Liberal Arts, Dr. C.A. Quarles of the College of Science & Engineering and Dr. Charles R. "Bob" Greer of the Neeley School of Business. Also nominated this year were Dr. Charlotte Hogg, AddRan College of Liberal Arts; Dr. Chris Sawyer, College of Communication; Dr. Frank Thomas, College of Education; Dr. T.J. Walsh, College of Fine Arts; and Dr. Dennis Cheek, Harris College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

 

The University also bestowed, for the fifth time, the Michael R. Ferrari Award for Distinguished University Service and Leadership. Dr. Keith Whitworth, a member of TCU’s sociology faculty, was chosen as this year’s recipient for his determined and focused approach to bringing sustainability to the TCU campus.
