Bill Moncrief named Honors Professor of the Year

Dr. William C. Moncrief, Senior Associate Dean of the M.J. Neeley School and Charles F. and Alann P. Bedford Professor of International Business, was presented with the 2010 Honors Faculty Recognition Award during last week's Honors Convocation in Ed Landreth Auditorium. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees from University of Mississippi and received his Ph.D. degree from Louisiana State University in 1982. He came to TCU that year, as an assistant professor of marketing.

Merillat Pittman of the Honors Student Cabinet announced the award by describing Dr. Moncrief as "no stranger to winning awards for outstanding teaching. In previous years, campus offices and organizations such as Student Development Services, Order of Omega and Student Foundation have recognized this individual."  She also noted that he has served TCU in a number of capacities beyond teaching, from serving on the Capital Campaign Committee and the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee to judging student homecoming events. His nomination form describes Moncrief as having "the unique ability to draw in his or her students with real-life stories and experiences, and then before they know it and sometimes without even realizing it, they have learned a new concept.”

In his work with the Neeley Fellows, Dr. Moncrief oversees the selection each year of 30 top freshmen business majors who enter the three-year program that delivers experiential, honors curriculum and professional development. He teaches Marketing Management to the Neeley Fellows and was the Class of 2009's selection as "Favorite Neeley Fellows Professor."
