New Admissions Center wins prestigious building award

The Mary Wright Admission Center was recently named one of the most significant construction projects of 2010 by the Associated General Contractors of America.

As a result, the project’s contractor, Linbeck Group, LLC, was one of 20 firms to receive the association’s Aon Build America Award. "We are honored to be acknowledged by our peers in receiving this award," said Harold Hebson, client executive and senior vice president for the Linbeck Group. "We want to thank TCU for making this project possible and all collaborators who have made it a success."

The Mary Wright Admission Center, which won for best new building project under $10 million, is a 13,000 square foot facility that serves as an undergraduate recruiting center. The project was completed 23 days early, despite record-breaking heat and rain and mid-project changes to the design. The team including Cannon Design and Hahnfeld Hoffer Stanford Architects also delivered a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-certified Gold facility, although the client anticipated only LEED Silver.

“Led admirably by a team from Linbeck Group, we successfully navigated scheduling issues, design changes, Texas weather anomalies, and cost constraints to complete the project at budget and ahead of schedule” said Leo W. Munson (TCU Associate Provost).

David Stueckler, division president remarked, “I am proud that TCU entrusts us with the projects on campus that are the most vital to the enhancement of their student’s experience, as well as the projects which are expected to lead the way in project delivery innovation and sustainability. The Mary Wright Admission Center was certainly one of those projects.”
