TCU establishes "WellnessGold" program

WellnessGold is astate-of-the-art, cost-free wellness program for faculty and staff at TCU, designed to encompass the social, emotional, intellectual, physical, occupational and spiritual dimensions of wellness. In addition to an interdisciplinary learning and sharing environment, WellnessGold will provide community outreach, promoting the overall wellness of individual members and the community at TCU.

According to an estimate from epidemiologists, 83 percent of deaths that occur before the age of 65 are preventable with positive lifestyle choices*. Adding a healthy lifestyle program can prevent almost 80 percent of deaths caused by poor lifestyle choices**. WellnessGold strives to promote healthy lifestyles by educating, supporting and empowering members to improve their fitness and livelihood.

WellnessGold uses TCU’s on-campus resources to educate members. It will provide a wide range of individualized wellness programs, designed and implemented by competent, educated personnel whose goal is to positively impact the lives of members. WellnessGold begins with a six-week initial program, which will include both required and optional “Wellness Tasks.” These include educational and participatory workshops and tasks that members complete on their own or with friends, family and co-workers. Assessments will be conducted before and after the initial program to track each member’s progress. The WellnessGold program concludes with a follow-up program designed to continue the enhancement of a healthy lifestyle.

WellnessGold is a member-based program and all TCU faculty and staff are welcome to join. Members from all departments will work together to encourage a holistic approach to wellness. Members must enroll to participate in the initial program, and enrollment is currently by invitation only.
