Theatre TCU presents "Assassins" this week


Theatre TCU's first production of the season, Assassins, is onstage in Buschman Theatre from Sept. 25-30. The contemporary musical focuses on the lives of nine historical misfits who were involved in attempted assassinations of our nation’s Presidents, either successfully or otherwise, over the past 200 years. Music and lyrics are by Stephen Sondheim, book is by John Weidman. The play won five Tony awards during its Broadway run.

 

Assassins runs Sept. 25-29 at 7:30 p.m., with matinees at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 29-30 in the Bushman Theatre in Ed Landreth Hall.  Tickets are $15 to the public, $10 for TCU faculty, staff, students and senior citizens. Call the TCU box office at ext. 8080 to reserve tickets. This show includes strong profanity and themes of violence as well as gunshots, hazers and fog. It is not intended for children.

 

The production is directed by Jennifer Engler, and features Kyle Montgomery, Daniel Floren, Christopher Hurt, Mitchell Stephens, Anthony Fortino, Dalton Hutto, Alex Bush, Dylan Lovett, Shelby Ringdahl, Jessi Little, Jack Dowden, Luke Atkinson, Katie Melton, Caroline Carden and Grant Engler. The show’s production team includes: Michael Heil (scenic designer), Brian Clinnin (costume designer), Alan Shorter (music director), Bill Eickenloff (sound designer), Michael Skinner (lighting designer), and TCU students Kiera Kinsfather (stage manager), and Christina Chester (props designer).
